My Reaction

We all know that one of the basic needs of people is food. I guess we Filipino people cannot live eating bread alone in the whole day. Sometimes even in our merienda time we eat rice and that is how we Filipino people love rice. My mom used to eat bread or pasta because she is working abroad and adopted their lifestyle there. I remember once that she told me that I should not eat rice all the time but I said that this is Philippines and we are used to and loved to eat rice.

People can only see the value and worth of things when they are gone. Even though the Philippines are one of the countries who produce good quantity and quality of rice, we had still encounter shortage of it for we cannot determine what may happen in the future. Because of the shortage of rice people were forced to buy NFA rice, which is cheaper but not a good quality of rice. For me it doesn’t matter if the rice is cheap and not good quality the most important is we have something to eat and people start to know the importance of rice. People realized, even I that we should stop wasting food.  But at least we can see that the government is doing something for the people and to solve the crisis that happened in the Philippines. The government must think not only for their selves or for their own interest but for the people they are serving especially when a crisis like this is happening in our country.

Because of the crisis of rice, the government needs to import rice, so the rice went so high. It was very expensive for the poor people or for the people who has less income to buy rice that cost 40 and up peso. The rise increased almost half of its price. The fertilizer and oil price increased also but the wages is still the same. So it was very difficult for the poor people to deal with that problem.  Others can eat at least 2 or 3 times a day but because there was increases of the price of rice maybe other people eat once a day or worst cannot eat in a day
